The Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Republic Act No. 11934 or SIM Card Registration Act take effect today.



According to the rules, postpaid and prepaid mobile/telco subscribers in the Philippines are now required to register their SIM cards for better accountability and security. New and existing prepaid subscribers must manually register their mobile numbers within 180 days or 6 months from the effectivity of the act, to keep their SIM cards active.


Should a user fail to register, his/her mobile number will be temporarily deactivated and can only be reactivated upon registration. For postpaid subscribers, make sure to follow the instructions provided by your service provider regarding the registration process.

Keeping your mobile number active not only enhances your account’s security, it also allows you to continue doing transactions.
